AC Ashford FC Reserves 3-4 Deal Town Rangers FC
The game started disastrously, with a sloppy pass in the 1st minute leading to a stunning long-range lob from Ashford, putting us 0-1 down. However, we responded swiftly, levelling the score at 1-1 within three minutes through Travis Austin’s fine strike, assisted by Scott Lisle’s pinpoint corner. Momentum swung our way in the 21st minute when Charlie Hills headed home from another corner, this time assisted by Baily Perry, to make it 1-2. Ashford equalized in the 35th minute, capitalizing on a poorly defended freekick to bring the score to 2-2. Undeterred, we regained the lead five minutes later through Tristan Chapman, assisted by Hills, making it 2-3. Yet, another set-piece lapse allowed Ashford to level the score at 3-3 just before halftime.
The second half saw us tighten up defensively, and in the 67th minute, Chapman struck again with a superb goal, assisted by Perry, to secure a 4-3 lead. Our backline held firm through the final stages, ensuring we advanced to the next round. A gritty performance from the lads, with standout contributions from Chapman, Jack Wood, and Scott Lisle, who were excellent in midfield, sealed a memorable win. We now face Lydd Town FC Reserves at home in the 2nd Round, date to be confirmed.
